Culmina Tasting featuring Sara Triggs - Woodman Wines & Spirits
Date: Nov 01/17, Wed Time: 17:30:00-19:30:00 Style: Sit-Down
Culmina Family Estate Winery will visit the FWR Tasting Room to present their newest releases.
Culmina is a family-owned estate operated by the Triggs and a small dedicated team of professionals. It is the result of a lifetime of experience in the wine industry for Don, Elaine and Sara Triggs. Having worked in the industry for a combined 40+ years, Don and Elaine began in 2006 with a simple goal: to make the highest quality of wines and maximize the quality of wine produced from their Golden Mile Bench property.
The following wines will be available for sampling:
2016 Unicus
2016 Decora
2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
2014 Merlot
2015 R&D Red Blend
2016 R&D Rosé Blend
Sara D’Amato, WineAlign:
91 Points, R&D Red Blend 2014 - A solid offering, bold and richly textured with youthful, chalky tannins and generous mass of fruit. The peppery character on both the nose, palate and finish nicely defines the fruit and adds dimension. Merlot dominant with the addition of both cabernets sourced from the Okanagan's first official sub-appellation, the Golden Mile Bench. Excellent length. Very good value. Best 2019-2024. Tasted April 2016.
Rick Van Sickle, Wines of Niagara:
91 Points, R&D Rosé Blend 2016 - The R&D on the label represents the “Research and Development” that went into the creation of the estate winery on the Golden Mile Bench. Or, it could be a tribute to Culmina proprietor Donald Triggs and his twin brother Ron “who showed the same investigative spirit growing up on the farm in rural Manitoba.” Whichever you believe, this blend of Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon is a delight, a drink-this-on-the-patio-all-day kind of Rosé with a pretty nose of summery red berries, wild flowers and citrus that is subtle and fresh. Everything is in harmony here.
